Before:

I Initially met this family shortly after they relocated from Chicago for a color consultation. They had just bought a charming bungalow in the Highland Park neighborhood of Saint Paul and wanted to repaint it to make it feel like theirs. They wanted to keep things light and bright, but with an earthy and organic feel. The kitchen already had white cabinets and we chose a soft shades of off white and green to tie their kitchen, dining and living rooms together.
Once they had the walls painted, what they didn't love about the kitchen felt even more magnified: the drywall backsplash was hard to clean, they hated the light fixtures and the granite countertops. They needed my help to make this kitchen more functional before their new baby arrived, without the mess and expense of an invasive remodel.

I brought them a selection of tiles in colors that echoed their color palette and highlighted the natural beauty of the granite. We played with texture, pattern and color and decided that this richly variated shade of green called Midori pulled out subtleties in the granite that gave the stone more depth. It was the missing piece that brought everything together! We installed it in a herringbone pattern with contrasting grout to really highlight the texture and make it the new star of the kitchen. Working with my talented team of contractors, we got rid of some of the excess outlets and switches by the sink, installed the tile and brand new lighting to make this room feel fresh, timeless and organic.
